Don’t Fear AI – Use It To Free Up Your Team

I was on the train into London, heading to an AI event. Packed carriage. No seats left. And there, right in front of me, was an engineer with his laptop out, building a PowerPoint.

Not solving problems. Not designing systems. Just fiddling with slides.

That moment stuck with me.

We talk a lot about AI and transformation. But here’s the reality: too many people are stuck doing the things around their job, instead of the job itself. The admin, the reporting, the updates – none of which are what gets them out of bed in the morning.

That’s where AI should come in.

Not to replace people, but to free them up. To give them back time to focus on what matters. And when we get that right? That’s when the performance lifts.

Here’s what I’ve seen work – and where we often get it wrong.

1. AI gives time back – if you design for it

The real value of AI isn’t just speed. It’s the space it creates for people to do more of what they’re brilliant at.

At TribeCX, we always start with the journeys that matter most. Where’s the friction? Where are your teams wasting time on handoffs, manual work, or tools that don’t talk to each other?

That’s where AI makes a difference – not by automating the entire process, but by simplifying the stuff that gets in the way.

When you remove the noise, people can focus. On the customer. On solving the real problem. On adding value. And when that happens? Everyone wins.

2. We’re still working at human speed

One of the stand-out moments for me recently came from Professor Neil Lawrence, talking about how humans speak at 200 words a minute – but machines communicate at the speed of light.

We’re trying to fit AI into old ways of working. Same roles, same meetings, just with a fancy new tool.

But the real gains come when you rethink the work itself. What would you do differently if you started from what AI can do, not just where it fits?

The tech isn’t the bottleneck. We are. The organisations that get ahead are the ones willing to change how they operate – not just what they operate with.

3. AI won’t replace people – it should enable them

There’s a lot of fear out there. Understandably. But most of it misses the point.

AI doesn’t replace the human touch – it makes it more powerful. Because it takes care of the repetitive, time-consuming stuff. So your people can focus on what only humans can do: judgement, empathy, creativity.

Becki Arthur from Dorchester Collection said it best:

“We use AI to speed up the tasks guests don’t see. But when it comes to experience? That’s about people. Always has been.”

AI gives your teams more time, more insight, and more confidence to do their best work. That’s the opportunity.

The bottom line?

AI doesn’t make your people more robotic. It makes them more human – if you use it right.

The challenge isn’t the tech. It’s designing the work around it. That’s what unlocks the real value; more efficient teams, better experiences, and a business that performs better all round.

If you’re still struggling to get ROI from your tech, maybe it’s not what you’ve bought – it’s how you’re using it.

That’s where we come in. At TribeCX, we help you connect your data, technology, and people around the journeys that matter most – so you get real results, fast.
